Welcome to the demo site of the Training Officer's Toolbox! |
The Training Officer's Toolbox is a resource for training officers and/or students to use to build training lessons or
enrich the learning of the student firefighter. On the full Toolbox web site, there are hundreds of video mini-course
training segments to choose from, grouped by training topic and subject.
On this demo site, you have access to a small sample of the total number of video mini-courses that are available on the
complete Toolbox site. To see a complete list of the mini-courses available, click the link that follows below, after the
samples.
Toolbox mini-course segments are arranged in three major groups as they originally appeared in the Working Fire Training
DVD program:
Hands-On:
These are specific training mini-courses for firefighters of all experience levels, both held in the classroom and on the
fireground. Many video mini-courses are in multiple parts (Part 1, Part 2, etc.). For example, there might be an introductory
classroom session followed by actual evolutions. Or the subject might be totally on the fireground, but split into parts for
easier assimilation by students. In the demo sections below, you might only see one of the parts.
Fireline:
Fireline mini-courses are actual incident/case studies where we review an actual emergency response with analysis and lessons
learned by the incidents commanders and/or responders involved. There are courses in every possible emergency response type: fires,
vehicle extrication, rescues of all types, hazardous materials, etc. The demo samples you have access to below illustrate typical
mini-courses from the various categories. A great way to use these is to find a Fireline incident that helps illustrate a training
lesson from the Hands-On training section.
Fire Medics:
Designed for the Firefighter/EMT or Firefighter/Paramedic and departments that employ joint response, these are EMS training
mini-courses similar in style to the Hands-On segments for firefighters. Again, they are held in the classroom or as actual
hands-on evolutions. These segments are grouped by functional area to help you as you search. There is also a group of actual
EMS incidents (usually from ambulance ride-alongs) that are constructed exactly like the Fireline segments above but target an
EMS response.
Training Materials:
For each segment, there is a link for "Related Training." These links take you to the original program training materials in .PDF format
in which the mini-course originally appeared. Scroll through the training materials until you find the information for the mini-course
you're interested in. You will find quizzes for all Hands-On and most Fire Medics mini-courses. There are discussion questions for most
of the Fireline mini-courses found after the Fireline section in the .PDF link. Finally, PowerPoints for many of the mini-courses are
also available but are not accessible through the Toolbox site as yet. However, if you call us (800-516-3473), we can give you a link
to those that are available.
